TPE 5
Assessing Student Learning
TPE 5.1-5.8
TPE 5.1
Apply knowledge of the purposes, characteristics, and appropriate uses of different types of assessments (e.g., diagnostic, informal, formal, progress-monitoring, formative, summative, and performance) to design and administer classroom assessments, including use of scoring rubrics.
Thoughts on TPE 5.1
In my Performance Task and Rubric, I am utilizing TPE 5.1, by designing classroom assessments and rubrics for scoring student outcomes. By applying the appropriate type of assessment, I am able to understand students’ strengths and areas for continued growth.
TPE 5.2
Collect and analyze assessment data from multiple measures and sources to plan and modify instruction and document students' learning over time.
Thoughts on TPE 5.2
In my Philosophy of Assessment, I discuss and address TPE 5.2, by explaining how various assessments support student learning and provide me as the teacher with regular data to use that will influence my teaching and planning of instruction. The collection of data is important for my teachings so that I can support students’ needs and document students learning throughout the year.
